Welcome back to this week's edition of #FeatureFriday, where we profile one of our students from our programs all over the world!
This week we speak to Jonathan. Part of our program engages students and the adults in their life in a two-way dialogue. Generations are cultures too, and we have much to learn from each other. With this in mind, we asked Jonathan from our Miami program to share about his close relationship with his grandpa. Jonathan's grandpa (pictured here after coming to Miami from Cuba with Jonathan's grandma) became a big hit in our Miami program. He's our #1 Fan! Thanks Jonathan for sharing! "The power of being able to speak two languages is that I can translate for a lot of people. For example, if I am in a store and someone is having a hard time understanding something, I like to help them. It’ s a very powerful feeling. Or for my grandpa, when my grandpa needs help understanding something I’m there for him. My grandpa is actually my best friend. He practically raised me with my mom and grandma. He has always told me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it and put the work in.
"I love everything about basketball, but my favorite thing about basketball is that joy you get when you are playing as team and everything is going right, and you are having fun with your teammates/brothers winning. Nothing beats that feeling.
"What I like the most about being with CourtVision International is how we use that joy to bring people together. If it wasn't for CourtVision I wouldn’t have met some amazing people. Also, it has helped me develop as a person. I am proud to be part of this organization. My goals for the future is to play college basketball, graduate, and then help people in my community with the game of basketball, by influencing them to make smarter choices."
